As the winner of the 2026 Avanti Award in Lipids from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), HWNI member James Olzmann was recently profiled in their member magazine, ASBMB Today.
Olzmann, a professor of molecular & cell biology and nutritional sciences & toxicology, studies mechanisms of organelle and lipid homeostasis in health and disease, including neurodegenerative diseases. The profile shares how his discoveries have reshaped our understanding of lipid biology and could pave the way for new cancer treatments, as well as highlighting his dedication to mentoring and advocating for equity and inclusion in science.
