HWNI member James Olzmann has been named the winner of the 2026 Avanti Award in Lipids from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), as part of their annual awards. The Avanti Award recognizes outstanding research contributions in the area of lipids.
Olzmann is a professor of molecular and cell biology and nutritional sciences and toxicology who studies mechanisms of organelle and lipid homeostasis in health and in diseases such as cancer, metabolic diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases.
