The Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute (HWNI) would like to congratulate UC Berkeley associate professor of cell and developmental biology Polina Lishko for being selected as a 2020 MacArthur Fellow. The award recognizes her pioneering work in reproductive physiology and the development of new forms of contraception. Lishko also studies neurodegeneration, and was recently awarded a grant from the Pew Innovation Fund for a collaborative project with HWNI member Ke Xu to investigate the role of steroid hormones in Alzheimer’s disease.
