A new study from the lab of HWNI member Amitai Shenhav, associate professor of psychology, found that people make faster decisions, with less stress, if their options are not framed as being pitted against each other. Instead, the researchers told study participants that they could go back and make additional choices after making a first choice, which made their initial decision easier. The approach outlined in this study could potentially help people make certain kinds of real-world decisions more efficiently, with less stress. The study was published in Nature Human Behaviour.
