Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute (HWNI) members William Jagust, James Olzmann, and Karthik Shekhar are among the world’s most cited researchers in their fields, according to the Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list from analytics firm Clarivate. The list identifies researchers who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their fields, through an analysis of their citations. Researchers on the list have authored multiple papers over the past eleven years that rank in the top 1% of citations for their field(s) and publication year, according to the list’s methodology.
6,868 researchers from 60 countries and regions are on the list this year, with 53 from UC Berkeley. Jagust is a professor of neuroscience, Olzmann is a professor of molecular & cell biology and nutritional sciences & toxicology, and Shekhar is an assistant professor of chemical & biomolecular engineering.
