Teresa Puthussery selected as inaugural Herbert Wertheim Chancellor’s Chair in Neuro-Optometry

HWNI member Teresa Puthussery, associate professor of optometry & vision science, has been selected as the first recipient of the Herbert Wertheim Chancellor’s Chair in Neuro-Optometry. The five-year appointment provides an annual scholarly allowance of $25,000, which she will use to support her groundbreaking research on the retina. Puthussery’s discoveries are paving the way for new treatments for eye disease and vision loss, and she recently received a MacArthur “genius” award for her work.
